Canyon Springs Resort Property Owners Association has languished for far too many years due to lack of engagement from the majority of property owners. In the recent special assessment election only 99 voted against the special assessment while 189 property owners had already paid for it. THIS MUST NOT HAPPEN AGAIN - VOTE PARKDBL!
As of January 1, 2025 the POA was facing $2 of expenses for every $1 in the bank. If everyone paid their $18 assessment (historically 1/3 did not) the POA would have had $0 in the bank come June 1. In addition the POA faced increased risk from future legal proceedings arising from the risk of owning 27 mostly wooded parcels of park and easement during a severe drought. The fire rating of the neighborhood remains high. Multiple attorneys advised that the federal bankruptcy court could help the POA affect changes needed to keep the POA functioning into the future. Had the special assessment passed to take care of the needed repairs the ongoing annual assessment would have been below $100. The repairs are still needed and it is likely that it will take years to raise the necessary funds to complete the work to reduce the risk to the neighborhood.
